We arrived on the 13th and have been to visit Bill Clinton's Library before setting of with other Conference attenders (from Canada and Iceland) to Tennessee to visit Nashville and the Grand Ole Oprey, Memphis to visit B.B.Kings Club and of course Graceland which we all really enjoyed.
Today the 21st was Registration Day - we registered and received our conference bags - but guess what - they had not produced any Delegate packs for England as so many people are not here!
I have a copy of the Cookbook which has some super recipes and yes some from the UK. They are all anxious here as many of the staff were flying on Monday last and consequently did not arrive! Also much of the paper work, voting slips etc. are stuck at Heathrow!
I have met many people from across the world - but some people from Denmark had to take a bus to Norway and fly from there. It will be interesting to see how many people are at the E!urope Area meeting tomorrow!

Hello Hot Springs,
ReplyDeleteIt has been delightful to hear what you are all up to there. I've been twiddling my thumbs for most of the week back in the UK but yesterday I was out and about speaking to a local WI about ACWW and its work. They were very interested and are now keen to start raising money for the ACWW project that Berkshire are supporting in 2010. At least I felt I was doing something positive.
Keep up the good work with the Blog. Wishing you an enjoyable St. George's day there in the USA.
Those of us who didn't make it are really enjoying your comments Kay, keep them coming. As you can see ACWW SW are now reading you.
ReplyDeleteGood luck and enjoy.
PS We received voting forms via email this morning.

Eileen, ACWW SW UK - have emailed this blog to people in UK, Romania, Estonia, Hungary etc and put on the ACWW Facebook site - I'm sure we're all enjoying reading the news!! We're all thinking - if only we were there - but this blog is the next best thing and we will follow your news with great interest. Cheers and Best wishes to everyone.
ReplyDeleteAnother good report - the opening ceremony sounds very moving, truly in the tradition of all World Conferences. Just read that Richard Branson says total ban on flying in/out of Europe not necessary . Oops. Have emailed blog site to as many suppotters as I can think of. Have a brilliant time.
ReplyDeleteSorry not to be with you all, I am sure the Opening Ceremony was a wonderful sight. We are doing our best to send the votes across to you, everyone here that has been stuck has been keeping in touch. Thank you Kay for the Blog,, best wishes to all those awaiting results of votes. This is the 4th time I have tried to comment but did not understand 'profile' So now I hope a Google Account will help! Look forward to hearing news when you return.
ReplyDeleteVery many thanks for creating this blog and giving such wonderful reports on what is happening in Hot Springs. For those of us who could not travel, it is great to see you all and hear what is going on. Your efforts are very much appreciated!
